A wedge-tailed eagle knocked a drone out of the sky in amazing footage captured by an amateur Australian drone pilot.

Flying on the outskirts of Melbourne, drone hobbyist Adam Lancaster says he noticed the bird of prey circling right before it attacked.

“We first saw the eagle circle us, but it disappeared,” Lancaster told Buzzfeed. “Then it came back into our direction and the next minute it flew out of the tree and took me out.”

Lancaster says despite the violent tumble, which damaged the drone and forced its GoPro camera to dislodge, the eagle was not harmed.

He also says he plans to avoid wildlife at all costs during future drone missions.

“If you see a bird of prey while flying. Land. I have added this to my operating procedure,” Lancaster says in the Youtube video description.
