Last December, in what would end up being the final fight of his MMA career, Tim Kennedy was beaten to a pulp by fellow UFC middleweight Kelvin Gastelum. Not long after, as he announced his retirement, Kennedy declared that he “will always have the heart of a fighter.”
A few short months later, he’s proving those words to be true by re-enlisting with the U.S. Army Special Forces. Kennedy, who first enlisted in 2004, has seen time in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Green Beret sniper and most recently served as a sergeant first class with the Texas Army National Guard.
As he told Fox & Friends on Sunday though, the recent dropping of a massive concussive bomb, dubbed the “mother of all bombs,” on remote ISIS tunnels in rural Afghanistan has renewed his war fighting spirit.
“The military, we’ve got our teeth back,” he said. “We have a reinvigorated, hopeful, beautiful military that is proud to be back on the team.”
