The perpetually offended took to Twitter yesterday to make it known that their feelings had been hurt by ads during the Superbowl.
Leaving aside the Doritios ad, which is a whole other subject for another article, two ads in particular riled up SJW’s who simply could not contain their pain and suffering.
The first was an ad for Snickers – a fairly weak short in which actor Willem Dafoe is dressed as Marilyn Monroe in the iconic white dress from “The Seven Year Itch.”
Ha. It’s barley amusing because Willem Dafoe is a grizzled man with veiny legs.
No wait. IT’S TRANSPHOBIC.
Hey Snickers, have a Snickers. You get a little transphobic when you're hungry. #SB50 #NotBuyingIt

.@SNICKERS, what was up w that commercial? Transphobic & implies women OK w being objectified as long as they have snacks #NotBuyingIt #SB50

Remember: Enforcing gender stereotypes is sexist, but breaking them is transphobic. https://t.co/sB4tH10pLL

— Pura Periculo (@1periculo) February 8, 2016
@NARAL @SNICKERS Awesome. We should all be transphobic. Mental illness is serious.
— DT's White House™ (@TrumpIssues) February 8, 2016
@joeybagovdonuts I would say it's going to be nuts, but Snickers has nuts and it's transphobic
— Ryan C (@HayekandHockey) February 8, 2016

— laynie (@penstone) February 7, 2016
Wow that Snickers commercial was transphobic.
— Olives All The Time (@untimelygamer) February 7, 2016
And the first transphobic touchdown goes to… @SNICKERS #sb50
— Hillary Violet Lehr (@HillaryLehr) February 7, 2016

A second ad, for Marmot Mountain, depicted a man hanging out in the woods with a marmot. It’s a bit weird, they bond while swimming, hiking, and taking in nice views. Then the man tries to kiss the Marmot, and the Marmot slaps him, but then they make out anyway.
You’re supposed to just chuckle and go yeah that’s strange because it’s a CGI marmot. Then you move on with your life.
No wait. IT’S HOMOPHOBIC AND DEPICTING BESTIALITY.
I generally agree with this @WashingtonPost article about the homophobic nature of the Marmot ad: https://t.co/sxkNqiAQWm
— Richard Goldberg Esq (@GoldbergLawDC) February 8, 2016
Did I just see a commercial with a homophobic beaver? #SuperBowl
— Fortune Feimster (@fortunefunny) February 8, 2016
@fortunefunny no, you saw a commercial with a homophobic marmot
— madisen maxwell (@mAdisen_mAxwell) February 8, 2016
@fortunefunny is say he's more beastaliphobic
— ryan butch (@theryanbutch) February 8, 2016
@fortunefunny nope homophobic Marmot, they are from the South, so ya' know
— Jennifer (@jrj6382) February 8, 2016
Is it just me or did the @Marmot ad feel homophobic? I can't stop dwelling on it.
— Alex Cheser (@alexcheser) February 8, 2016
Also, SO disappointed in #marmot for such a homophobic commercial. #notbuyingit #sb50 #superbowl
— Rev. Heidi C. Heath (@revfemme) February 8, 2016
Hey @Marmot you don't get a gold star for a non-sexist ad if it's homophobic instead #NotBuyingIt
— Corinne Falotico (@corinne_fal) February 8, 2016
Thnks Marmot for your homophobic Super Bowl commercial. You insulted the worldwide gay community. #GaysMatter
— Raw (@Rawhung8) February 8, 2016
Loving the @Marmot commercial until it turned homophobic
— curmudgeon (@thesassbox) February 8, 2016
"I'm not that kind of #Marmot." Bestiality ads always work #SuperBowl
— Ernie Fox (@FoxErnie) February 8, 2016
2016: when marmot-based bestiality finally went mainstream
— saint ethan (@squintsbutler) February 8, 2016
@GSP @HollywoodLife @Marmot and homophobic? Nice creative idea – falling in love with outdoors – horrible execution
— Beth Burkhart (@polojones) February 8, 2016
And the Marmot ad was deeply disturbing I think Santorum belongs back in the race.
— Ana Marie Cox (@anamariecox) February 8, 2016
@fortunefunny So, I am gay and didn't find anything homophobic about it until I came online and found out I am supposed to be offended.
— The Doctor (@AlphaWolf1969) February 8, 2016
@SarahBurris Isn't the @Marmot ad only homophobic if you assume the animal is male? Not sure that's clear w/o gender stereotype.
— Bo Shuff (@BoShuff) February 8, 2016
Last time we looked, the planet was on the verge of global conflict and the world’s financial system was about to collapse. Is it just us or does a CGI Marmot and a man in a dress just not seem worthy of getting riled up about?
