Hillary Clinton is responding to Donald Trump’s popularity with love bombs.

Following Trump’s promise to block Muslims from entering the country, the former secretary of state tweeted out: “Love trumps hate.”

She promised black ministers in Atlanta she’d run on a “love and kindness platform” and told lawyers celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Montgomery bus boycott that justice means “standing beside love.” In Iowa Clinton told a crowd of supporters “We’ve got to do everything we can to weed out hate and plant love and kindness.”

Chided by Republicans for the lovey-dovey message, Clinton responded from the campaign trial in Salem, New Hampshire: “It may be for unusual for a presidential candidate to say we need more love and kindness in this country, but I think that’s exactly what we need.”

It wasn’t love bombs Clinton used in Libya. She wasn’t reciting Kumbaya at the State Department when handling the deadly Benghazi attack in 2012.

Love and compassion were in short supply when Clinton celebrated the brutal murder of Libya’s Gaddafi with a quip and a smile: “We came, we saw, he died.”

During Clinton’s testimony on Benghazi she was asked by Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) if her remark on the murder of Gaddafi represented the policy of the Obama administration in Libya. Clinton “essentially admitted to the fact pattern of US policy being regime change in Libya and the killing of Gaddafi. Both are war crimes, both are prosecutable acts at the International Criminal Court, and her statements were made under oath,” notes Don DeBar.

Clinton’s State Department funneled weapons to NATO-backed al-Qaeda “rebels” in Libya. Hillary, Samantha Power, then at the National Security Council, and Susan Rice, the UN ambassador at the time, convinced Obama to back the rebels.

Gaddafi’s intelligence services contributed to the war against al-Qaeda, but this did not save him. He was tracked down by the French Secret Service on October 20 2011 near Sirte and shot and beaten to death by National Transitional Council forces. A few months before the murder of Gaddafi the NTC appointed the former al-Qaeda operative Abdel Hakim Belhaj as its leader. He would later be accused of joining forces with the Islamic State.

Following the destruction of Libya and the death of 30,000 people–and possibly as high as 100,000–Clinton threw her weight behind the Syrian jihadists fighting to overthrow Bashar al-Assad. She was an early advocate of supporting and arming “moderate” Syrian rebels who would soon defect to al-Nusra and the Islamic State in droves.

“Clinton’s unwillingness to let go of the ‘regime change’ mandate in a sovereign state, coupled with a moralistic but biased outrage, suggests someone who does not respect international law and could be dangerous as U.S. president: hypocritical, prejudiced and self-righteous,” writes Rick Sterling.

Clinton’s fake love message rings hollow. It is a cynical campaign trick to endear her to voters, especially women voters. If we pull away the thin veil of lies and duplicity, we see that Hillary Clinton is no different than George W. Bush and his coterie of neocons responsible for the systematic murder of a million and a half Iraqis and thousands of Afghans.
