A cop in Owasso Oklahoma has been caught on camera using excessive force against a suspect after previously being fired for stomping on a handcuffed man’s head and then repeatedly elbowing him in the face.

Officer Mike Denton is again under investigation after video emerged of him repeatedly beating a suspect with the butt end of a shotgun.

The footage clearly shows Denton using the gun to hit the suspect while he was still in his truck. The suspect had also just been Tased.

A fellow officer seems to prevent Denton from continuing the beating, but when the suspect is pulled out of the vehicle, Denton goes back to pounding him with the gun, hitting the suspect at least six times.

The beating came at the end of a chase, yet other officers did not use excessive force to detain the suspect.

Nowata Police chief Mike McElhaney told reporters that the footage shows the other officers doing the right thing. However, he intimated that the actions of Denton were unwarranted.

“We were within our policies and guidelines in this pursuit. As you know, there’s other things under investigation, but I’m not at liberty to comment on that because it’s under investigation,” McElhaney said.

Many feel that Denton should not even be a police officer anymore following an incident in 2011 when he was filmed abusing a detained suspect.

The city reviewed the above footage and fired Denton.

However, the Fraternal Order of Police argued that Denton was “protecting himself” by stomping on the man’s head, almost breaking both his arms, and elbowing him in the face. They filed a grievance which was heard by a federal mediator, eventually leading to Denton getting his job back, and even receiving back pay and benefits.

The rehiring of Denton and the subsequent incident highlights how police can blatantly violate the law and the rights of Americans and get away with it.

Would you be happy with this guy stomping around your town with a gun and a badge?
