Politically correct “journalists” with Fusion.net, a Disney-ABC owned media provider, have created a Twitter bot that “corrects” people who use the term “illegal immigrant”.
The BBC reports that the “Twitter bot” was designed to automatically tweet to anyone who uses the phrase on the social media platform, advising them to change their use of language.
The account @DroptheIBot has sent out hundreds of automatic responses to Twitter uses, stating, “People aren’t illegal. Try saying ‘undocumented immigrant’ or ‘unauthorized immigrant’ instead.”
BBC reports:
The “I” word has been called into question in recent years. Defining any human being as “illegal” is considered offensive by some, who think the term should be reconsidered.
Tech Times notes that “reporters” Patrick Hogan and Jorge Rivas consider the phrases “illegal immigrant” and “illegal alien” “terms that are offensive to people residing in the United States without proper authorization.”
Well, we wouldn’t want the people illegally residing in the US to be offended now would we.
The pair told the BBC that they feel the word ‘illegal’ is “a very dehumanising way of referring to someone.”
Obviously, the pair cannot seem to grasp that it is just a fact that a lot of immigrants are ILLEGALLY residing in the US, whether they like the term or not. If something is against the law, it is ILLEGAL – that is merely correct use of the English language.
One can only take offense at a word if it is used in a specific derogatory context. In this case, the word is simply a descriptive noun. It is akin to being offended by the word ‘red’ in the sentence ‘this is a red balloon’. It makes no sense whatsoever.
In other words, it’s bat-shit politically correct lunacy.
The two “reporters” also claim that the project represents “a modest effort to help America shed some of its historical baggage,” whatever that is supposed to imply. In an article, the two also suggest that the term “illegal immigrant” is racist because it is more often than not applied to “a person of color”.
“In a country where crimes like these happen routinely against undocumented immigrants, and where more than 11 million people are reportedly undocumented, it’s time to stop stigmatizing immigrants through our word choices.” the pair state.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter users who were subjected to correction by the bot were not too happy about it:

There is a happy ending to this story for anyone who dislikes having their free speech “corrected” in an Orwellian fashion by a bot.
Despite the fact that the creators attempted to avoid spamming by only having the bot run once every ten minutes, and never replying to the same user twice, the account has now been suspended by Twitter for violating its terms.
So the illegal immigrants will have to stay offended, for now.
