A children’s hospital in Colorado announced it has eliminated gender designations on patient wristbands.

“It’s not easy growing up with an expansive gender identity or expression,” the hospital’s website states, adding, “we’re here to support you on your journey, whatever that may be.”
The hospital’s endocrinology department features a “Gender Diversity” network which describes itself as a “safe space,” and contains several care programs for “gender-diverse children,” including hormone therapy, puberty blocking medicines and programs to assist with “plans for future treatments or procedures.”
“We are the only comprehensive care center in the Rocky Mountain region specifically set up for gender-diverse children, adolescents and young adults,” reads a passage on the TRUE Center for Gender Diversity site. “We embrace you for who you are, so you can become who you’ve been all along: your true self.”
The hospital’s announcement comes as California passed a law allowing foster children 12 and older to privately seek “gender affirming health care and gender affirming mental health care.”
