A DPS trooper is recovering in the hospital after suffering a non-life threatening injury along the Rio Grande.
DPS Lt. Johnny Hernandez said the wound was in the center to center right pelvic area, rather than his right leg as previously reported.
He said it may have been a stray bullet from a gun battle on the Mexican side of Fronton.
The trooper was identified as Danny Shaw. He is an eight year veteran from north Texas.
