Editor’s note: This is not about civility. It is merely another example of the state fleecing the commoners.

This may sound like a ridiculous question, but according to a report on Yahoo! News, Texas cops are indeed giving tickets to 6-year-olds.
What crimes are being committed in kindergarten?

Disrupting class. Fighting. Misbehaving on the school bus.

Horrors!

In the past, these actions would mean a trip to the principal’s office. Today, however, “such misbehavior results in a Class C misdemeanor ticket and a trip to court for thousands of Texas students and their families each year,” according to the story, quoting a document called the Appleseed Texas report.

But this can’t be happening a lot, right? Well … Yahoo! News claims “1,000 tickets to elementary school children in 10 school districts” over a period of six years.

Ouch. Seems a little extreme? What do you think?
