PEORIA — FBI and Peoria County Sheriff’s Office officials are questioning a woman at Peoria’s airport Thursday morning whose baggage appeared to contain tubes of explosive material, a timing device and vials of liquid, according to Peoria County Sheriff Mike McCoy.

The suspicious items were discovered by TSA officials during a routine x-ray screening of baggage to be loaded onto commercial airplanes.

“The woman was saying everything was all right,” McCoy said Thursday morning. “Anyone who saw the picture (of the contents of the bag) we saw would be suspicious.”

The airport was evacuated. All flights into and out of Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport were delayed, according to Gene Olsen, airport director.
