Patricia Smith, the mother of one of the four Americans killed in the Benghazi, Libya attacks in 2012, let loose on Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton after being shown a video of the former Secretary of State’s 2013 testimony to Congress.
Discussing her ongoing battle to get details on her late son Sean Smith’s death, Smith stated on CNN Newsroom with Carol Costello that the government has as yet failed to reveal the details of her son’s death, despite a promise made to her by the former First Lady.
“Three years ago Hillary promised, when I went to the casket ceremony in Washington, she promised she would get back to me and tell me what happened,” Smith says.
“She has not called me. She has not contacted me. She has not given me any information except to tell me that I am not a member of the immediate family and I do not need to know.”
“They told you that?” Costello asks notably astonished.
“Yes they did, several times over and over,” Smith answers.
Costello next aired January 23, 2013, video of Clinton testifying before Congress, in which the Democrat candidate decried questions over whether the attack was the result of a protest over a Youtube video, as the State Department claimed at the time.
“With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night and decided they’d go kill some Americans,” Clinton said. “What difference – at this point, what difference does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything [they could] to prevent it from happening again.”
“She’s lying!” the bereaved mother responds. “She’s absolutely lying.”
Smith says Clinton had told her at her son’s casket ceremony that the Youtube video was responsible for the violent attack and that “she’d get back to me and tell me what happened to my son.”
“She has not only not gotten back to me, but all I’ve ever heard is that I’m not to know because I’m not a member of the immediate family.”
“I still wanna know,” Smith says angrily, “I saw on TV bloody fingerprints on the walls over there. I asked specifically, ‘Are those my son’s fingerprints crawling down the wall?’ Nobody ever got back to me on that.”
“What happened?! Somebody’s got to tell me from the government.”
On Thursday, Clinton will again testify before the House Select Committee on Benghazi, continuing its investigation into the events which led to the September 11, 2012 attack on a U.S. consulate.
