Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has died and his brother Salman has become the kingdom’s new ruler.

King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz took power in 2005 after the death of his half-brother King Fahd.

The monarch was thought to be 91-years-old, however official accounts of his age are unclear.

He underwent surgery in recent years related to a herniated disc, and was hospitalised in December for pneumonia.
