Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced his presidential bid Thursday morning, making it the second time that he will run for president.
In a video on his website that features several Washington monuments, Texas scenery and Perry meeting and greeting different people, he says that he is the person the country needs to “revive the American dream.”
Gone are the signature cowboy boots. His new accessory is a pair of black-rimmed glasses. Through is video he implores the American people to support him as he tries to make the United States “new again.”
“You see a lot of candidates will say the right things. Whether it’s about the border, whether it’s about taxes, whether it’s about spending, but we need a president who has done the right thing,” Perry says in the video. “We need a president who bridges the partisan divide rather than widens.”
