Kentucky Senator Rand Paul will soon introduce an amendment intended to defund Planned Parenthood.

In a series of tweets sent Monday, Sen. Paul announced he would attempt to force Congress to vote on an amendment that would defund Planned Parenthood following the release of a new undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress exposing Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted fetal tissue.

Sen. Paul will attempt to attach the amendment to the HR 2 transportation bill which many lawmakers hope will be ready in time for August recess, reports Politico.

Last week, the Republican presidential contender introduced a petition on his campaign site asking the American people demand Congress “Stand for life.”

The senator’s petition came after last Tuesday’s release of a disturbing undercover video that showed Planned Parenthood Senior Director Dr. Deborah Nucatola casually discussing the sale of aborted baby body parts over lunch.

Outlining his intent to scale back the abortion giant in light of the macabre new revelations on Fox News yesterday, Paul said he was “gonna do everything I can to stop it.”

“And I’m also going to bring this to the American public,” Paul told Bill Hemmer. “I think Republicans have run away from the abortion issue. This is baby parts we’re talking about. We’re talking about doctors who are trying to preserve certain parts by not crushing them while they crush a baby’s head in the rest of the procedure.”

“This is gruesome and I think most americans, even those who think they’re pro-choice, would be aghast to know that we’re selling body parts,” Sen. Paul said.

In April, the Planned Parenthood organization expressed discomfort at Paul’s presidential announcement, claiming he was an “anti-freedom” “extremist” bent on restricting “women’s rights”
