A Long Island radio station has suspended the hosts of its “Morning Show with Steve and Leeana” because of a faked news story about a “homophobic” RSVP to a child’s birthday party.

The story, and the photos of the invitation, went viral all over social media starting Wednesday. The invitation was for a “Tie Dye Party” for seven-year-old “Sophia.” The “parent” of “Tommy” responded in writing:

Tommy will NOT attend. I do not believe in what you do and will not subject my innocent son to your ‘lifestyle.’ I’m sorry Sophia has to grow up this way. If you have an issue or need to speak to me [phone number]

The morning hosts admitted to the fabrication and said they were trying to “spur a healthy discourse on a highly passionate topic.” The station management issued a post to its Facebook page saying this was done “independently” and that the hosts were suspended.
