Intending to dismiss the Hillary Clinton email scandal as “a bunch of people flapping their jaws about nothing,” Media Matters’ James Carville stuck his foot in his own jaw by saying that Clinton used a private email account to avoid congressional oversight.
“I suspect she didn’t want Louie Gohmert rifling through her emails,” is the way he put it on Sunday’s “This Week” on ABC.
That admission set off a firestorm of derision on Twitter.
Mark Halperin, managing editor of Bloomberg Politics put in:
James Carville on @ThisWeekABC says he "suspects" @HillaryClinton used private email b/c she didn't want Hill oversight. Quite an admission

Here’s a sample of the responses:
Carville is not helping his cause. #ThisWeek

@MarkHalperin @NoahCRothman @ThisWeekABC @HillaryClinton That's kinda the point. The Law requires congressional oversight.

@MarkHalperin @ThisWeekABC @HillaryClinton

@sdwinkler @RBPundit @MarkHalperin @ThisWeekABC Makes you wonder how bad what she was hiding was.

@MarkHalperin @gabrielmalor @ThisWeekABC So, Carville's admitting she committed a crime? Obviously, he thinks she'll never be prosecuted.

@MarkHalperin What part of:
"Her Majesty is happy to let you see yourself voting for her & roughly shag-all else"
is it that's eluding you?

And finally, there’s this ominous one. Although I assume it was sent in jest, nonetheless….
@MarkHalperin @brithume @ThisWeekABC @HillaryClinton James may want to watch his back after that slip #VinceFoster
