On Saturday, March 28, 2015, Open Carry Texas (OCT) will conduct an open carry walk along the state line between Arkansas and Texas.

The walk will begin at 12pm at 4849 Texas Blvd. Members of OCT will conduct a peaceful walk to raise awareness of our mission and gun rights in Texas. Citizens can expect to see our members legally armed with rifles, shotguns, and/or pre-1899 black powder revolvers on the Texas side of the border and modern handguns openly holstered on the Arkansas side.

They can also expect to see our members conduct a safe, professional, and friendly event. The public is encouraged to attend or simply ask our members questions about gun laws, our organization, and what we’re doing to get pro-gun laws passed through the legislature.

“We want to draw awareness to the absurdity of Texas gun laws,” said OCT President and Founder CJ Grisham. “The fact that I can legally carry a holstered handgun on the Arkansas side of the road, but I’d be a criminal if I did it on the Texas side should be appalling and embarrassing to every Texan. We want to highlight that distinction.”

Our members can be found in every major city and 215 Texas counties. The Texarkana Police Department has been informed of the event in accordance with OCT policy of working with law enforcement. This is a rain or shine event.

About Open Carry Texas

Our purpose is to 1) educate all Texans about their right to openly carry rifles and shotguns in a safe manner; 2) to condition Texans to feel safe around law abiding citizens that choose to carry them; 3) encourage our elected officials to pass less restrictive open carry legislation for all firearms, especially pistols; and (4) foster a cooperative relationship with local law enforcement in the furtherance of these goals with an eye towards preventing negative encounters.
