[efoods]It seems like everyone is clamoring for an H1N1 flu shot, yet at the same time, a new Ohio Poll reflects widespread reluctance to be vaccinated.
The University of Cincinnati’s Ohio Poll found that only one-third of Ohioans plan to be vaccinated, and about half said they would have their children vaccinated. National polls have yielded similar results.
Flu vaccination rates have never been robust. In the 2006-07 flu season, for example, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported less than 30 percent of young children recommended for a flu shot were vaccinated.
This season, some have voiced concerns about the quick turnaround of the swine flu vaccine, despite safety assurances from public health leaders who point to a good safety record for flu vaccines.
