Early on in the Obama Administration, top advisors held over from the Clinton regime called upon Obama to seize victory from the jaws of tragedy– by looking to exploit ‘another 9/11 or OKC’ by “reconnecting with the people” for a bounce in the polls and enough momentum for re-election. After the Giffords’ shooting in Arizona, some of the same advisors marveled at how Obama had “connected” with the people through the shooting. Likewise, democratic strategists are again calling on the President to use the Colorado theater shooting for political gain, and the advancement of the gun control agenda.
