Sunspot Solar Observatory in Sunspot, New Mexico was suddenly closed down on September 6 after a computer connected to the facility allegedly had child pornography on it, according to a federal search warrant.

The warrant claims a source within the building notified authorities after seeing “not good” images on a computer at the observatory.

An FBI investigation shows the name on the warrant matches the name of the facility’s janitor, although he has not been charged with any crime yet.

Many local residents and internet users keeping up with the case originally speculated on what prompted the closure and many still question the child porn narrative now being put forward by the FBI.

For example, law enforcement has yet to explain why Black Hawk helicopter was required for the search and why all observatory employees were forced to evacuate the building.

Also, a nearby U.S. Post Office was evacuated and six other solar/space camera feeds all went down at the same time as the Sunspot Observatory raid, according to Zero Hedge.

Alamogordo News reports the facility’s chief observer found a laptop with child porn on it months before contacting the FBI and waited to inform them because he was “‘distracted’ by an unspecified urgent issue at the observatory.”

Court documents show an FBI agent seized the laptop from the observatory on Aug. 21, 2018, a month before the raid.

After the laptop went missing, the janitor supposedly acted unusual and said he thought there was a “serial killer in the area, and that he was fearful that the killer might enter the facility and execute someone.”

No charges have been filed by police and the facility reopened on Monday, September 17.
