A manhunt was under way on Thursday for a suspected shooter who killed a police officer in Shreveport, Louisiana, overnight, authorities said.
Louisiana State Police is working with the Shreveport Police Department “to bring the suspect to justice,” the agency said in a Facebook post on Thursday morning.
The officer had been responding to a call around 9:14 p.m. reporting an armed man who was threatening people inside a home, Shreveport police spokesman Corporal Marcus Hines told reporters.
Shreveport officers, assisted by state police, were using drones and helicopters to search for the shooter, who fled the scene after opening fire on the officer, the Shreveport Times reported.
