Six in ten Americans believe that the federal government has grown too powerful, according to new findings by Gallup.

The survey discovered that 60 percent of voters think the government has too much authority, a figure that marks a joint record high, and which has been more or less the same for the past 3 years.

It is a 9 percent increase on findings from 2009, the first year of Obama’s presidency, highlighting that mistrust in government is on the rise.

Only one third of Americans have no problem with the amount of power the government has, while 7 percent believe the government doesn’t have enough power.

A more telling finding to emerge from the survey is that Democrats, Independents, moderates, and self described liberals have grown much more wary of government power since Obama took office.

Another interesting finding is that 20 percent more black voters now express a concern about federal power, compared to those who did at the beginning of Obama’s presidency.

A total of 48 percent of black voters say the government now has too much power, compared to an average of 28 percent during Obama’s first term.

The findings dovetail with a record number of Americans now viewing Congress as corrupt, and trust in government hitting all time low.
