No need to wait for the “authorities” to shift the blame for the lame fireworks bomb planted in Times Square on the Tea Party. The chant has already commenced.

The suspect is a balding white guy, so it stands to reason the Tea Party is responsible.

Robert Dreyfuss, writing for The Nation, discounts the Taliban link to the Mickey Mouse bomb and blames the Tea Party. “It may be that the Pakistan-based Taliban, the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has quietly established a Connecticut franchise while we weren’t looking. That’s possible. But it seems far more likely to me that the perpetrator of the bungled Times Square bomb plot was either a lone nut job or a member of some squirrely branch of the Tea Party, anti-government far right. Which actually exists in Connecticut, where, it seems, the car’s license plates were stolen.”

How does Dreyfuss know it was the Tea Party? Because the Oklahoma City bombing was supposedly pulled off by a white guy. In the “aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing, when self-appointed experts blamed Muslims only to find out that it was a Gulf War veteran named Tim who did it, there has once again been an unseemly rush to judgment.”

The white guy caught in a video and suspected of placing the “bomb” with its toy clock “looks like your typical Tea Party radical,” writes Gather.

“General consensus is that the perpetrator was a white 40 year old male Christian card carrying member of the Tea Party crowd,” declares The Political Jungle blog. In order to make this point, the blogger cites a string of goofy commented posted at Fox News.

“All speculation at this point, but if I was to place a bet on who did this, I’d go with someone whose sympathies are probably more Tea Party than Taliban,” writes Paul Woodward of War in Context.

Election Ink claims the cops have a Tea Party activist in their sights. “Anonymous sources have reported that a suspect is currently being questioned in the Bridgeport / New Haven CT area. The suspect is a middle age white male, has a history of strong political views, and considers himself a Tea Party activist. An arrest is expected within days. In a strange twist, the suspect worked in the past as an informant with law enforcement agencies.”

I don’t know if Election Ink is an Onion spin-off. SodaHead also carried the accusation that a Tea Party activist was behind the absurd non-bombing.

Parking a car loaded up with fireworks and propane tanks is a “mindset very similar to those of the KKK, the Taliban and guess what — The Tea Party,” writes The Rainbow Collective.

On and on. It is a feeding frenzy for the government-loving progressives. The corporate media has yet to pin the blame on the Tea Party. In the next few hours or day, they will jump on the bandwagon after “officials” arrest the white guy captured in the security video now posted all over the web.

“So who will ultimately be blamed for it? Given Obama’s recent plea to everyone but white males for votes in the upcoming election, it’s safe to say they are going to do everything they can to pin this bombing on the Tea Party Movement. Just wait and see,” writes The Nation in Crisis Blog.

The establishment is chomping at the bit to blame the Tea Party — not the Republican Borg hive Tea Party, but the real Tea Party — because they are seriously concerned about the political threat posted by millions of Americans sick and tired of authoritarian government and its truckling to the banksters.

It’s not enough to brazenly slander the entire movement as racist. Now the Tea Party will be linked to terrorism in order to scare away supporters before the mid-term elections.
