A Honea Path, S.C., police officer who authorities said was involved in an arrest now under SLED investigation has been accused of using excessive force before in a lawsuit filed in September in an unrelated case.

Those accusations have been denied, according to court records.

SLED is tasked with unraveling a Nov. 14 arrest that left Brian Hatcher with severe injuries.
