John Fitzgerald, a Lafayette business owner who is hoping to defeat U.S. Rep. George Miller in the June 8 Democratic primary and go on to face challengers from other parties in the general election in November, literally has opinions on issues from A to Z.
Fitzgerald said he was also disappointed when Miller voted against auditing the Federal Reserve. “The Federal Reserve is a private bank, not a federal agency,” he said. “I think we need accountability and transparency, and I don’t think we have that right now.” That hasn’t helped the country’s economy: His own painting contractor business is down 60 percent, Fitzgerald said.

But one of the biggest issues for Fitzgerald is the investigation of the Sept. 11, 2001 assault that destroyed the World Trade Center buildings, damaged the Pentagon and led to the crash in Pennsylvania of a fourth hijacked plane.
“We’re not hearing the information on 9/11,” he said.
The 9/11 Commission’s investigation of the attack that collapsed the World Trade Center buildings and damaged the Pentagon “was a whitewash,” he said. “It was too convenient.” He said witnesses were not given immunity, people were not under oath when they testified, government officials avoided answering questions, and no subpoena power was used.
He said national media sources are owned by corporations with interests in the war effort. “I see a cover-up,” he said.
