Hillary Clinton returned to the campaign trail Thursday and bizarrely attempted to use her sickness to suggest that she is some kind of working class champion of the people.

Hillary made out that being laid up at home, presumably in one of her many mansions surrounded by helpers and staff, allowed her to reconnect with hard working Americans.

Clinton declared that being off of the trail allowed her to gather her thoughts and “reconnect with what this whole campaign is about.”

“I certainly feel lucky — when I am under the weather, I can afford to take a few days off. Millions of Americans can’t. They either go to work sick or they lose a paycheck,” Hillary said at a rally in Greensboro, N.C.

“They toss back some Tylenols, chug some orange juice and hope the cough or the virus goes away on its own.” Hillary added.

“I have met so many people living on a razor’s edge, one illness away from losing their job, one paycheck away from losing their job,” she said.

“That goes against everything we stand for as Americans, because some things should not come down to luck.” the democratic nominee exclaimed.

So Hillary is asking voters to believe that while she was at home with her feet up, in between sleeping, she was thinking about how hard Americans work every day, and not about how she could martyr herself and spin her absence into a campaign strategy.

In her first appearance since she collapsed last week, Hillary repeated her campaign talking point that she attempted to “power through it.”

“But even I had to admit that maybe a few days of rest would do me good.” she said, regardless of the fact that for the entire year she has been taking off up to five days at a time to rest.

“I’m not great at taking it easy even under ordinary circumstances, but with two months to go until Election Day, sitting at home was pretty much the last place I wanted to be,” she said.

Clinton also appeared to throw her campaign staff under the bus, saying that they should have reacted quicker when she fell ill at the 9/11 memorial gathering.

“You know, my campaign has said they could have been faster and I agree with that,” Clinton said. “I certainly expect them to be as focused and quick as possible, but I have to say from my perspective, I thought I was going to be fine and I thought that there wasn’t really any reason to make a big fuss about it. So I should have taken time off earlier. I didn’t, now I have, and I’m back on the campaign trail.”

Hillary also dodged a question about whether she ever told her running mate Sen. Tim Kaine that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Clinton insisted that her “senior staff knew, and the information was provided to a number of people,” but she did not say whether Kaine was one of those people.

When a second reporter asked about why Kaine was not informed, and whether that has hurt their partnership, Clinton said she was “not going to go into our personal conversations.”
