Earlier this week an investigation by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton and her husband received no less than $100 million from autocratic regimes in the Middle East.
“These regimes are buying access. You’ve got the Saudis. You’ve got the Kuwaitis, Oman, Qatar and the UAE. There are massive conflicts of interest. It’s beyond comprehension,” national security analyst Patrick Poole told The Daily Caller.
On Thursday, Stuart Varney at Fox News reported there are “major discrepancies” between what donors reported they gave to the Clinton Foundation and what the foundation reported they received.
In June, then Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina claimed “so little” of the charitable donations to the Clinton Foundation “actually go to charitable works.”
Clinton operatives insist the money showered on the Clintons did not have an effect on foreign policy while Hillary was secretary of state.
“Reports show that there were not donations to the Clinton Foundation that had any influence on State Dept. policy,” Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal told the the Benghazi Committee Thursday morning.
Also on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported the Clinton Global Initiative arranged a financial commitment that benefited a for-profit company owned in part by people with ties to the Clintons, including a current and a former Democratic official and a close friend of former President Bill Clinton.
Despite the denial, documents published by the Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act show Clinton campaign financier Anthony Podesta personally handled a Saudi lobbying account. Podesta’s firm has lobbied for a number of corporations and countries, including Bank of America, BP, and Egypt.
Documents released in March by Judicial Watch also show numerous instances of influence peddling at the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative. Clinton and her State Department aides were involved in fundraising for the foundation, according to the documents.
“Our lawsuit had previously forced the disclosure of documents that provided a road map for over 200 conflict-of-interest rulings that led to at least $48 million in speaking fees for the Clintons during Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state. Previously disclosed documents in this lawsuit, for example, raise questions about funds Clinton accepted from entities linked to Saudi Arabia, China and Iran, among others,” the organization reported.
In January, Fox News reported the FBI investigation into Clinton’s use of private email expanded to examine whether the “intersection” of Clinton Foundation work and State Department business may have violated public corruption laws.
One intelligence source told Fox News that FBI agents would be “screaming” if a prosecution is not pursued because “many previous public corruption cases have been made and successfully prosecuted with much less evidence than what is emerging in this investigation.”
