A former U.S. Border Patrol agent who, before his arrest, had been featured in a 2011 local news report about corruption among border law enforcement officers was sentenced Monday to federal prison for selling government equipment he stole and for possession of child pornography.

Rodolfo Zuniga, 34, was sentenced to 37 months in prison, five years of probation and ordered to pay restitution to the government of more than $9,000.

Court records say that Zuniga stole four night-vision goggle sets and one global-positioning system unit from the Imperial Beach station, where he was assigned. He then sold the items on eBay.
