Border Patrol officials say they have seen a decrease in the number of illegal crossings in the Rio Grande Valley.

The agency still will send more agents to the region. Officials said they also are working with the National Guard to increase patrols in the area.

Border Patrol officials said they also will reach out to the National Guard troops deployed by Gov. Rick Perry to find out how they can utilize those resources.
