A family in Mississippi are facing a court hearing and possibly even jail time for cheering their loved ones at a high school graduation.

WREG reports that the parents and aunt of 18-year-old Lanarcia Walker were ejected from the ceremony and later issued arrest warrants, for shouts of encouragement.

Charges of ‘disturbing the peace’ were brought by Senatobia Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster, who bemoaned not having “order” at graduation ceremonies.

The control freak Superintendent claims that all in attendance were warned not to shout out or clap until the very end of the ceremony, otherwise they would be thrown out.

“I can understand they can escort me out of the graduation, but to say they going to put me in jail for it. What else are they allowed to do?” said the aunt, Ursula Miller

“It’s crazy. The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs, or a $500 fine for expressing my love, it’s ridiculous man. It’s ridiculous,” Henry Walker added.

The family says they cannot afford to pay the $500 fines, and so it is possible that they will all be thrown in jail.

“Why assign papers on someone? We don’t have money for anything like that,” Linda Walker said.
