Scott Adams – the creator of the long-lived comic strip series “Dilbert” – says he’s endorsing Democrat Hillary Clinton for president due to the possibility he may be assassinated if he supports Republican Donald Trump.

Adams, who studies psychology and the science of persuasion, asserted Sunday Clinton will gain a foothold in polls if she is successfully able to draw a comparison in the minds of her followers between her billionaire opponent and infamous Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Via Adams’ blog yesterday:

That is good persuasion if you can pull it off because fear is a strong motivator. It is also a sharp pivot from Clinton’s prior approach of talking about her mastery of policy details, her experience, and her gender. Trump took her so-called “woman card” and turned it into a liability. So Clinton wisely pivoted. Her new scare tactics are solid-gold persuasion. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see Clinton’s numbers versus Trump improve in June, at least temporarily, until Trump finds a counter-move.

Adams says once the connection has been established, Hillary supporters will believe it’s morally OK to kill Trump or his supporters.

If Clinton successfully pairs Trump with Hitler in your mind – as she is doing – and loses anyway, about a quarter of the country will think it is morally justified to assassinate their own leader. I too would feel that way if an actual Hitler came to power in this country. I would join the resistance and try to take out the Hitler-like leader. You should do the same. No one wants an actual President Hitler.

Despite never having endorsed the hotel mogul, Adams says he’s already been on the receiving end of criticism from Hillary supporters labeling him a Trump “apologist” and “Joseph Goebbels,” the head of Hitler’s Ministry of Propaganda.

“So,” Adams writes, “I’ve decided to endorse Hillary Clinton for President, for my personal safety.”

“Trump supporters don’t have any bad feelings about patriotic Americans such as myself, so I’ll be safe from that crowd,” Adams reasons, adding, “But Clinton supporters have convinced me – and here I am being 100% serious – that my safety is at risk if I am seen as supportive of Trump. So I’m taking the safe way out and endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.”

With Trump effectively winning the Republican nomination, protests outside of his political rallies have become hotbeds for brutality emanating from Clinton and Bernie Sanders supporters, who resort to extreme violence and riots against the billionaire’s backers.

Adams appeared last month on Real Time with Bill Maher discussing his interest in the election in regards to how Trump is actively using persuasive techniques to great success.

The cartoon creator last August – long before Trump had dispatched his Republican opponents  – also predicted the businessman would win the election in a landslide due to his mastery of the power of persuasion and the “linguistic kill shot.”
