A mom waiting to pick up her kids from a Maryland high school was shot and killed by her estranged husband, who also wounded a bystander before fleeing the scene, officials said.

Gunfire erupted just before 5 p.m. Thursday outside High Point High School in Beltsville, Md., a Washington, D.C. suburb.

Prince George’s County Police later said that the suspected gunman is Eulalio Tordil, a 62-year-old employee of Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service, which provides services for federal buildings.
