Police in Texas are searching for vandals who egged a police memorial miles from where Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth was shot last week.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department and Brenham law enforcement say they’re looking for suspects who threw eggs at the Washington County courthouse memorial on Sunday.

“Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible,” reports KHOU.

Law enforcement agencies are on high alert after a spate of police deaths in other states.

“That might seem like a small thing, but in today’s hostile environment towards law enforcement with them being literally executed we want to nip this in the bud,” said Washington County Crime Stoppers Chairman John Deans.

“We’re fearing it’s someone that’s taken up with all the bad rhetoric and as far as I’m concerned terrorist talk from people like Farrakhan and the Black Panthers,” Deans remarked.

The memorial is located at the Washington County seat in Brenham, less than an hour’s drive from where Deputy Goforth was gunned down last Friday while pumping gas at a station in Cypress.brenham-cypress

The incident is one more indication of how police are growing increasingly vigilant against violent rhetoric, acts and symbols, as three police across the nation have been killed within a week.

Police in Houston are similarly looking for suspects who have vandalized several locations across town with spray-painted police officer and gun emojis, suggesting a “kill cop” message.
