BEAVER SPRINGS — A longtime local policeman is under fire by several Snyder County residents who say his arrogance and harassment of elderly drivers makes him unfit for duty.

Troxelville resident Jack Heeter went so far as to say, “If something isn’t done, there’s going to be bloodshed.”

“I think there is a township cop who is out of control,” added Beaver Springs resident Allen Jones, who approached the Spring Township supervisors on Tuesday night to confirm that a letter he had written to them about a June incident involving Officer Ed Smith and Jones’ father, Kenneth Jones, had been received.

“I want to find out what I’m dealing with today,” Jones told the supervisors, “whether I have an issue with Officer Smith, or a larger issue with the township supervisors.”

The supervisors in turn directed everything to their solicitor, Bob Slivinski, who said simply, “I will check this out and report back.”
