Despite thousands of intelligence community employees forced to go on furlough because of the government shutdown, there will be no impact on CIA operations, CIA Director Mike Pompeo said on Monday.

His comments came during an interview on “CBS This Morning.”

“We’re going to continue crushing our adversaries, whether the government’s open or closed,” Pompeo said. “We do hope it gets opened back up. But for today and tomorrow and for the few days ahead of us, we’re going to continue to do the things we need to do.”

Pompeo disputed claims the shutdown signals a dysfunction in government.
