The Texas Legislature sent a bill allowing concealed handguns in college classrooms to Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) on the eve of Sine Die.
The House voted 98 to 47 in approval of the bill on Sunday, one day after the Texas Senate gave its approval vote.
“I think that the media and some of the family members as well students on our universities and professors have made much ado about nothing,” state Rep. Allen Fletcher (R-Cypress), the House sponsor of Senate Bill 11, said to the chamber Sunday.
Fletcher also said that current law already allows licensed concealed handguns on public university grounds.
