The U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the CBP helicopter forced down in the Lower Rio Grande Valley had its main rotor damaged by a rock launched from the ground.
A CBP statement issued Thursday says the assailant who launched the rock Tuesday afternoon hasn’t been identified.
The two-member crew of the American Eurocopter AS350 helicopter by was able to land the damaged aircraft safely without injury in a vacant lot in the border town of Roma.
