The BBC reported that footage from the scene in the Breitscheidplatz Square shows many stalls knocked over and people lying injured in the streets. The market borders the historic Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church.
CNN also reported, citing an eyewitness, that the truck seemed to be going about 40 mph and made no obvious effort to avoid people. Reporter Laura Bundock said on Sky News that “Police in Berlin are now saying this was probably deliberate, an attack.”
