UPDATE: Report: Adam Kokesh to be Charged With “Assaulting a Federal Officer”
Activists are rallying to secure the release of former Marine and broadcaster Adam Kokesh, who was arrested by police in Philadelphia on Saturday during a speech he gave at a marijuana legalization protest.
As the video documenting Kokesh’s arrest proves, he was not smoking marijuana when he was snatched by cops nor did he resist arrest. Kokesh’s “crime” seems to amount to no more than exercising his right to free speech under the First Amendment.
However, Kokesh still remains interned in a federal jailhouse in Philadelphia under charges of resisting arrest. He has not been charged with drug possession or use of drugs.
Kokesh’s abduction by Philadelphia cops underscores the fact that Americans are now being kidnapped and temporarily disappeared into the prison system for the egregious crime of engaging in constitutionally protected free speech.
Alex Jones had warned Kokesh before Saturday’s incident that his plan to lead a controversial but well supported armed march on Washington DC this summer would plant a huge target on his forehead.
A “call flood” is taking place today, with a website and a Facebook page urging supporters to “politely but firmly demand (Kokesh’s) immediate and unconditional release” and the dropping of all charges.
According to Facebook users, people who attempt to call and get information about Kokesh’s incarceration are being met with crude responses, with authorities allegedly joking about killing Kokesh or referring to him as “Adam Coke-Head”.
According to Alex Jones, if authorities are making such remarks, it needs to be documented because it is a terroristic threat and a very serious felony.
Although Kokesh is likely to have an initial hearing today, there is no guarantee that he will be released.
