Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to Donald Trump, told CNN Monday night that the president-elect won’t interfere with any congressional effort to investigate reports that Russia intervened in the election to help Trump win the White House.
Trump has called the report of Russian involvement “ridiculous,” and Conway told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the president-elect remains unconvinced that hacks of Democratic and Republican entities were part of an effort to boost Trump’s candidacy.
“This smells like politics, plain and simple,” she said Monday night.
“We in the Trump presidency do not want foreign governments interfering in our elections. That’s very clear. We don’t want intelligence interfering in our politics. But we also certainly do not want what we have now, which is politics interfering in our intelligence.”
