CNN reporter Arwa Damon is the subject of a lawsuit from two medical workers who claim that she bit them in a drunken stupor. The EMTs – Tracy Lamar and Charles Simons – were attempting to treat her at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
The suit alleges that Damon threatened both EMTs, saying she was a “major reporter for CNN.” CNN is also named in the suit, which says that the network hired her knowing she “has a history of becoming intoxicated and then abusive,” and a “penchant for violence even when sober.”
The EMTs are suing CNN for $1 million for pain and suffering. “It’s been an extremely stressful time, I was exhausted, I had not had proper food all day and clearly miscalculated how my body would handle the alcohol consumed,” wrote Damon in an e-mail to the New York Post.
“Needless to say, I am utterly mortified and take full responsibility for my actions, which are inexcusable.”
