Truth Revolt
March 3, 2014
The 86th Annual Academy Awards took a turn for the politically incorrect Sunday evening when host Ellen DeGeneres concluded her opening monologue exposing a glaringly awkward truth in the back of every Academy voter’s mind ever since 12 Years a Slave became this year’s Oscar front runner. DeGeneres stated:
Tonight, there are so many different possibilities. Possibility number one: 12 Years a Slave wins Best Picture. Possibility number two: You’re all racists! Now, for our first white presenter, Anne Hathaway!
The audience immediately rolled with laughter and applause, signaling the ice had officially been broken.
With a total of nine nominations and what has widely been acclaimed as “the Schindler’s List of slavery films,” 12 Years a Slave currently stands as this years favorite to take home the gold statue.
