Nearly 50,000 Muslims have gathered inside a US football stadium to celebrate Eid al-Adha, also called the “Festival of Sacrifice.”

Local Minnesota mosques organized the massive event to take place at the US Bank Stadium to celebrate the Islamic holiday which coincides with the Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

Because of the name and nature of the holiday, where Muslims sacrifice livestock as a symbol of the prophet Ibrahim’s [Abraham in Hebrew Bible] willingness to sacrifice his only son, the US Bank stadium has had to dispel rumors of mass animal sacrifices taking place inside its venue.

“No animal sacrifice will take place at U.S. Bank Stadium,” spokeswoman for the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority Jenn Hathaway announced in Minneapolis on Tuesday.

Video footage depicts the chanting of “Allahu akbar” blaring over loudspeakers in the venue.

One of the prominent speakers at the “Super Eid” event will be Egyptian imam Waleed Al-Maneese, who has called for the deaths of Christians and Jews, according to independent journalist Laura Loomer.

Would the media treat a large Christian equivalent event with the same respect and reverence?
