A Wisconsin school has proposed allocating close to half a million dollars towards a program teaching a Black Lives Matter-aligned curriculum.
A line item indicating $471,073 to be spent on a pilot partnership program with “Black Lives Matter” appears on the Milwaukee Public Schools 2016-2017 Superintendent’s Proposed Budget.
According to the proposed budget, the BLM program will indoctrinate students with a “cultural studies curriculum,” encourage “culturally responsive teaching practices” and teach pupils about “trauma-informed care” and “issues surrounding race and trauma faced in communities and schools.”
The Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning in Central Milwaukee appears to be the school set to implement the program.
The community will have a chance to protest the spending, as noted in Wednesday’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2017 budgets will be held by the Milwaukee Board of School Directors” on Tuesday of next week.
Members of the Black Lives Matter movement have played prominent roles in “social justice” demonstrations across the country since 2014, with some protests leading to riots and destruction of public and private property.
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has in the past blamed the organization for inspiring cop hatred, while others have asserted the movement is outright “racist.”
A request for comment from the Milwaukee Public Schools Financial Planning and Budget office was not immediately returned.
