Dorothy Thornhill, the mayor of Watford, presented Prime Minister David Cameron with a letter this week criticizing the government for passing the bill for Bilderberg security on to Hertfordshire taxpayers.

The Watford Observer reports today that Ms. Thornhill found it “galling” that the government would pass the bill for protecting some “the wealthiest people in the world” on to hapless commoners.

“The police have been forced to make quick arrangements with minimal consultation with residents, and these have had ramifications,” Thornhill explained.

“I am also very concerned about the additional strain this must put on Herts Police’s budget, which had already been set for the year ahead,” she added.

“While I realize the conference is funded by a cocktail of contributors, the local constabulary will surely have to pick up a substantial part of the tab, which is all the more galling when the participants in the conference are among the wealthiest people in the world.”
