Former Science Minister David Willetts confirmed that the British space industry would be able to “do it on our own” after it was revealed the Government has secured fundings to build up a new sat-nav programme to rival the European Union’s Galileo system.

Lord Willetts insisted the British space industry would be able to maintain its standards even if it lost access to the European Union’s Galileo system after Brexit.

Eurocrats suggested the UK would not be able to continue using the system as it could become a security threat after leaving the bloc in March 2019.
