Sources inside Syria report the United States has started a bombing campaign against the Islamic State. The Pentagon has also confirmed the air strikes.
“U.S. military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against ISIL terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk Land Attack missiles,” said Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby at 9:40pm ET. “Given that these operations are ongoing, we are not in a position to provide additional details at this time.”
Witnesses to the strikes are posting on Twitter this evening.

On Sunday Obama’s ambassador to the United Nation, Samantha Powers, said the United States will also target the al-Assad government and the Syrian military, although reports coming in this evening do not indicate that has happened yet.

Corporate propaganda media in the U.S. mentions “Arab partners” joining the bombing raid. Left unmentioned is the fact these same “partners,” along with the CIA and the Pentagon, were instrumental in funding, arming and training ISIS.
