COMMENT: In the name of the War on Terror, the TSA are now confiscating and ruining baked holiday goods. Why in the hell would any traveler want to put up this invasion of our lives? The TSA’s website warns about its inspectors’ penchant for sweet travel items, “Note: You can bring pies and cakes through the security checkpoint, but please be advised that they are subject to additional screening.”

The phrase ‘let them eat cake’ may have been fine for old school monarchies, but how about within the confines of TSA bag inspections?

Joe Maltese said he and his wife were delighted to find a chocolate cake amid Christmas ornaments and other gifts from his mother-in-law.

There was also a “Notice of Bag Inspection” form in his suitcase from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to inform him that the contents of his bag had been checked before his flight from Albany.

“Are times that tough where TSA inspectors have to eat travelers’ food?” he asked. “Or did the inspector conduct a taste test to make certain it wasn’t contraband or a bomb?”

Terror cupcakes? Passengers claim TSA is tampering with their baked goods

Airline passengers are worrying about TSA officers touching a lot more than their junk this holiday season: their baked goods.

The holiday season began with a series of stories of baked good mishaps — including a woman in Boston who said that her delicious cupcakes were deemed a security threat and confiscated on her way home from Las Vegas.

Rebecca Haines told WCBV-TV in Boston that a TSA officer told her the icing on her cupcake qualified as a liquid-like gel and therefore wasn’t allowed on the plane.

“The frosting apparently constitutes a gel-like substance because it was adorably packaged in a glass jar,” she told the TV station.
