Polls show Ron Paul has the best chance of defeating Obama out of all the Republican candidates

In an effort to dismiss the legitimacy of Ron Paul’s presidential campaign, both Donald Trump and Bill O’Reilly regurgitated the claim that Paul could not beat Obama in a head to head run off, when in fact numerous polls have proven he stands the best chance of beating Obama out of all the Republican candidates.

O’Reilly first attacked Paul for only having one of his bills signed into law, which is actually a compliment. If Paul abandoned his constitutional principles and followed the rest of the establishment in Washington DC, I’m sure he could get dozens of bills signed into law, and every single one of them would be an affront to the Constitution.

O’Reilly claims that Ron Paul “is not going to be nominated by the Republican Party simply because President Obama would beat Mr. Paul by a colossal margin.”

Billionaire Donald Trump, who last month was forced to cancel a debate he planned to moderate after only two Republican candidates agreed to participate, echoed O’Reilly’s sentiments during an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren.

Asked which of the candidates couldn’t beat Obama, Trump responded, “I don’t think Ron Paul would have even a little chance of beating him.”

Trump went further in his attack on Paul, claiming, “If he won, I think it would be a tremendous black eye for Iowa, and I really think it would bring Iowa down as the first great state in terms of the process. I really think it would be a very, very bad thing for the reputation of Iowa.”

The lie that Paul couldn’t beat Obama was also voiced by Rush Limbaugh last month when he claimed, “right now anybody other than Ron Paul could beat Obama if the election were tomorrow — easily.”

In reality, the poll numbers show quite the opposite.

Out of all the Republican candidates, the numbers show that Ron Paul has the best chance of defeating Barack Obama. This is because he is the only Republican candidate who can attract a significant number of votes from Independents and Democrats who are disenfranchised with Obama for continuing the Bush-era policy of pre-emptive warfare and maintaining the unsustainable U.S. empire.

An NBC News/Marist Poll conducted last month found that Paul beats all the other Republican candidates when it comes to having the highest chance of defeating Barack Obama in a head to head contest.

A follow-up CNN/ORC poll showed Paul bettering Obama 47 to 46 percent among “the most reliable” group of voters, those who are 65 years and older. Paul attracts more independents than Obama by 48 to 47 percent. The Congressman also betters Obama 51 to 46 percent among white voters and betters the incumbent president 52 to 44 percent among voters residing in rural areas.

In a direct head to head with Obama, Paul does better than all of his GOP rivals in a wide and diverse range of population categories, including males; persons ages 18 to 34; persons under 50 years of age; persons earning less than $50k per year; persons who have attended college; crossover Democrats; self-identified liberals; self-described moderates; residents of the Northeast and Midwest geographic regions; and those residing in urban areas.

The Congressman also betters all the other GOP competitors against Obama where non-white voters are concerned, attracting the support of one in four non-white adults.

The likes of Trump, O’Reilly and Limbaugh are either completely ignorant of the fact that the numbers prove Ron Paul has the best chance out of all the Republican candidates of beating Obama, or they are deliberately lying in an effort to regurgitate the smear that Ron Paul is “unelectable” when in reality he is more electable from a GOP standpoint than any of his challengers when it comes to turfing the Obama administration out of the White House.
