Donald Trump has brokered a deal with Carrier to save nearly 1,000 of 1,400 jobs the HVAC company planned to move from Indiana to Mexico.
Carrier made the agreement public last night on Twitter, stating, “We are pleased to have reached a deal with President-elect Trump & VP-elect Pence to keep close to 1,000 jobs in Indy. More details soon.”

A formal announcement of the plans is schedule to take place on Thursday in Indiana, with Trump and Vice President-elect Pence in attendance.

Possible resolutions to ongoing negotiations were made evident when Trump Tweeted on November 24, “I am working hard, even on Thanksgiving, trying to get Carrier A.C. Company to stay in the U.S. (Indiana) MAKING PROGRESS – will know soon!”

A central focus of Trump’s campaign has been on American jobs and protecting them from moving internationally.
After Carrier declared in February, its decision to relocate a large portion of its U.S. operation to Mexico, Trump seized the opportunity to use Carrier as a topical, high-profile example of how globalization hurts American workers.
